40 Pesos Daily for 40 Days
During the Lenten period, in the forty days (not including Sunday) from Ash Wednesday (Feb 14, 2018) to Easter Sunday (April 1, 2018), we usually abstain from certain foods, habits, or physical pleasures. Some vow to give up bad habits such as smoking or cursing while others abstain from chocolate or shopping.
Others promise to help “heal the environment” by walking to work for 40 days instead of driving or using Lent as a time to give to others without being recognized for their good works.
You can also declutter your home with things you no longer need and donate 1 stuff a day for 40 days for people in need. From these things that you give up, maybe you will be able to save at least P40/day. At the end of the Lenten season that is a minimum of P1,600 that can be used as a lifeline by our brothers and sisters in times of life-threatening emergencies and crisis.
The funds raised from your Lenten sacrifice will help our Damayan Program. Caritas Damayan provides emergency relief assistance to victims of disasters/calamities such as typhoons, earthquake, landslide, floods and volcanic eruption etc. Right now, we are raising funds to help the evacuees in Albay area due to the Mayon eruption; and the continous rehabilitation efforts in Marawi.
