WHO WE ARE
Caritas Manila is a non-profit organization that serves as the lead social service and development ministry of the Catholic Church in the Philippines.
The organization is geared towards total human development, poverty alleviation, and the creation of a Christian community with a strong social conscience.
First known as Catholic Charities, Caritas Manila was established by the late Manila Archbishop Rufino Cardinal Santos on October 1, 1953, as a social welfare program “for uplifting the spirit and soul of the unfortunate members of our community, to assist them in all their needs, and to bring the help of God in their miseries and distress.”
Through YSLEP, we help 5,000 poor and deserving youths gain access to college and voc/tech education. All it takes is Php 30,000 to support 1 Youth Servant Leader.
Caritas Damayan is the preventive health and disaster management (from relief to rehabilitation) program of Caritas Manila.
Volunteerism, the backbone of servant leadership, enables us to efficiently and effectively implement various social services and development programs for poor families in their communities.
Segunda Mana is the donations in-kind program of Caritas Manila that helps provide scholarships to 5,000 poor and deserving youths nationwide.
Sa Pagbabago ng Buhay or Sanlakbay is a pastoral accompaniment program for drug dependents toward healing, recovery, and reintegration into their communities.
Restorative Justice is a tool that our equipped social workers use to heal the relationship between crime offenders, victims, and the community in general. We do this by incorporating the 3 interrelated methods of social work; casework, group work, and community organizing.
Caritas Manila is the leading social arm of the Archdiocese of Manila and the integrator of the Church social services and development in Metro Manila.
Caritas Manila is always at your service
