CM Telethon 2012 to discuss Church’s role in educating the poor

Caritas Manila, in partnership with Radio Veritas 846 will conduct its annual fundraising telethon on September 24, 2012 at Radio Veritas Headquarters in Quezon City. The telethon will air from 6:00am to 4:00pm. Phone lines will be open throughout the live broadcast.The telethon will air on Radio Veritas 846 and also via the internet at www. veritas846.ph.

This year’s telethon will highlight the Church’s role in educating the poor through its various interventions in education such as the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) of Caritas Manila.

The Philippine government had stressed the value of education in society. “Education is one of the cornerstones of our society, and an educated citizenry is the pillar of our institutions”, said President Aquino in his recent message to the Children’s Museum and Library Inc. national convention.

Caritas Manila’s Telethon guests will include key personalities from the Church, Government and Civil Society. They will discuss the plight of the marginalized sector in the country in terms of education.

Listeners can participate in the Telethon by calling telephone nos. 925-7931-40 and donate to support the poor but deserving scholars of Caritas Manila under its Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program. Caritas Telethon 2012 is one of the main events of Caritas Manila’s 59th Anniversary celebration “Living faith in our social mission”, is this year’s theme for the anniversary.
