Caritas Manila unveils Food Production Facility
Caritas Manila has officially unveiled its new Food Production Center last Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Mater Dolorosa Parish, East Rembo, Makati City.
The establishment of the food production center was made possible through the support from Direct Assistance Program (DAP) a flexible, small grants program funded by the Australian Government through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
His Excellency Bill Tweddell, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines graced the occasion.Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual, Executive Director,Caritas Manila, Rev.Fr. Joel Mosura, Parish Priest,Mater Dolorosa Parish, Rev. Fr. Gaetano Greco,Provincial Superior, Tertiary Capuchins and Ms. Millete Belen, Executive Director, Cardinal Medical Charities Foundation were present during the event.
The facility will be managed by food trainers of Caritas Manila. It will produce food items that are nutritious and free of preservatives like pancit canton enriched with malungay or squash, healthy snacks such as banana chips,pastillas and champoy.
Initially it will focus on the food products cited above but will eventually venture in to other food items once its operations are in full swing.
Caritas Margins are products that are 100% made by urban poor individuals and families that Caritas Manila is helping through its livelihood training program.
